Servicing hydraulic steering units is NOT a do-it-yourself project. If you cannot tell which part or parts is bad/broken/missing from this photo and you do not know exactly where and in which orientation all these parts fit, then you can not put it back together once it comes apart. The form you receive back in your e-mail MUST be attached to the outside of your box and a second copy placed in a separate zip lock bag INSIDE your box. The reason for this is that we do not want to chance losing your unit or confusing it with one of the others that are always in the shop. IF YOU DO NOT SEND CONTACT INFORMATION WITH YOUR UNIT, WE WILL NOT WORK ON IT UNTIL YOU CONTACT US! Our turn-around time is usually less than three business days and our shop is closed on Fridays. Example of ’average’ service costs: Service and reseal Hynautic H50, H60, H20-24, H80 helm - Average $190.00 Not including extra parts ie:bearings, balls, ball cage etc. when found to be damaged. Service and reseal Hynautic H40 series - $355.00-$400.00 Not including extra parts ie:bearings, balls, ball cage etc. when found to be damaged. There is an additional charge for helms with tilt mechanisms attached Aluminum cylinders - appx. $175.00 Not including extra parts ie:shafts, end caps etc. if needed(depending on the condition of the end caps and shaft) Brass cylinders - We must see them to quote a price. Average rebuild cost $360.00-$475.00 Not including extra parts ie:shafts, rods etc. if found to be needed We can repair or rebuild any make and model of hydraulic steering or engine controls in our shop. We have a complete machine shop and can make any part that is not available from the original manufacturer. We also can sell you ’other brand’ replacements for the units you have so that you have equal cubic inches to your old unit and the steering will react in the same way as the old unit did. FYI: Replacing your unit with a new or used unit that you find on auction sites or in the classified sections of the paper will in many cases cost you more than taking care of the equipment you own. If you do not properly match the helm unit with the cylinder, your system will not function the way you expect. If you don’t find the information you need on this site, your fastest response will be if you e-mail us using our contact form, click here. You may call us Mon-Fri 8-5 Eastern time at 1-800-745-0765 and leave a message if there is no answer. We will get back to you as quickly as possible. We warrant our work for one year. Examples of voided warranties: - Your unit is opened up anyone when you get it back for whatever reason!
- You send us the unit a second time because it is not working and when we open it, find that it is full of rust, water, or some other oil than the approved or recommended fluid. (This could be because you did not clean out the rest of your system per our recommendation and rust, water, or some other fluid damages the unit that we repaired.)
- Any damage to the unit caused by the end user or his representatives by hammering the steering wheel on, sitting on the steering wheel while driving the boat, pulling on the steering wheel in rough weather, etc. Please remember that your steering wheel in not a grab rail or leaning post.
- Any damage done to the unit after it leaves our shop.
Note regarding price quotes:We will gladly look at your unit and give you a price quote. There is a $25.00 minimum teardown and inspection fee for this service. This will be credited to your repair charges if we rebuild/reseal your unit. (If you send us a box of loose parts because you already took it apart, there will be a surcharge to rebuild the unit before we can determine the rebuild cost. That surcharge will be credited to the cost of the rebuild if you decide to have us do it.) If you decide that you do not want the work done, we will not reassemble your unit. We cannot assemble a unit that is leaking/defective and chance someone using it as is. |
