The transom probe is normally mounted on the transom below the waterline near the bottom edge. Secure it in place with 1/4 inch cable clamp and screw (Supplied). Route the cable over or through the transom via the most convenient path.

A 2-1/16 inch diameter hole is required to mount the gauge. Rear clearance is 3-3/4 inches from the mounting surface to the back of the unit. Be sure to have this much space before cutting the mounting hole. Secure in place with u-bracket and hex nuts. Do not over-tighten! Power is supplied by the boat’s 12 volt DC electrical system. Connect the red wire to the boat’s accessory switch output terminal (+12v). Connect the black wire to a common ground. The surface temp gauge will operate when the accessory switch is “ON”. It is good practice to install an in-line fuse in the positive line near the power source. The unit is protected against accidental voltage reversal.
